The neighbourhood, Amsterdam landmarks

Zuiderkerk

The carillon of the nearby Zuiderkerk (1614) gives a romantic feeling of the canal. The church tower is frequently open to the public for viewing. With good weather conditions, you can see as far as the coastline.

Trippen House

Just around the corner from the Raamgracht, you will find the "Trippen House", dating from 1662. "House" is an understatement, as the Trippen House has more resemblance with a palace than with a house. The Trippen House is the largest mansion of the prestigious Amsterdam ring of canals.

De Waag (Weigh House)

A hundred meters further down the canal is "De Waag". The Weigh House at the Nieuwmarkt is the oldest secular public building in Amsterdam. It was designed as a city gate (Sint Antoniespoort, 1488) and as such it formed part of the medieval defences.

Furthermore you can find The Rembrandt House within a hundred meters from the apartment.

Bicycle tour

As the apartment is centrally located, it is the ideal start for a bicycle tour. In the course of the 17th century, the famous crescent shape of the Amsterdam city centre was designed and realised resulting in the unique ring of canals. A large part of the city centre can be discovered by bicycle in a relatively short time, in which you can get an impression of the architecture of private houses of Amsterdam. The sightseeing tour by bicycle takes you along the most beautiful examples of Amsterdam’s architecture of houses and takes approximately 2.5 hours.
